b. News Flash (May 29th, 2016):
1/ Membership Meeting Voting Results – Number of members who voted in the
membership meeting: 168 (57.7% of the church membership). All of the motions
voted on in the membership meeting were approved:
– Election of Rossana Wong, Gary Dong, Sheila Xu, Frances Wen as MCCC
deacons in 2017-2018
– To accept the 2015 MCCC Audited Financial Report
– To appoint Timothy Cheng as auditor of Financial Statements for 2016
– To accept the 2015 MCCC Ministry Report
An additional motion raised by a member during the 4:00 pm membership meeting to
have draft of the Ministry Report on the bulletin board one week before the
membership meeting was also approved.
2/ Celebrate Canada – The Celebrate Canada community outreach event, co-hosted by
MCCC and GSCC, will be held on Friday, July 1 (Canada Day) between 11:00 am
and 3:30 pm in the church parking lot and in the church building.
3/ Church Leadership and Ministry Training – The registration forms for the Church
Leadership and Ministry Training on Saturday, July 9 (Sat) are being distributed
starting next Sunday. Rev. Warren Lai will be the speaker for the training. All deacons,
congregational ministry committee members, fellowship/small group
leaders, Sunday school teachers and persons interested in participating in church
ministry are encouraged to attend.
4/ Church Office Summer Administrative Assistant Hiring – The ECB has formed a
hiring committee for the position of the Church Office Summer Administrative
Assistant position. The members are Rev. Vincent Lee, Deacon Irene Cheung and
Deacon Guojian Cai.
5/ Children Ministry Summer Assistants – Zian Qin and Maggie Han have been hired
as Children Ministry Summer Assistants. Zian’s work term begins June 20 and will
run for 9 weeks. Maggie’s work term begins June 27 and will run for 8 weeks.
6/ English Intern Pastor – Pastor Henry Chuang’s contract period as English Intern
Pastor ended last Sunday, May 29. Pastor Eleanor Kwan’s 1-year contract period as
English Intern Pastor has begun on June 1, 2016.
7/ Membership Application – Chia Mei Kok (郭嘉鎂) from Mandarin congregation is
applying for MCCC membership. If you have any comment, please send it to Rev.
John Hua or Rev. Luke Xie by June 19, 2016.
8/ MCCC 30th Anniversary Celebration – Thanks to all fellowships and brothers and
sisters who have submitted artwork to Counting Blessings Through Multimedia.
They will be put on display again at the 99-Day Countdown meeting on Saturday,
October 8 (Thanksgiving weekend).
