MCCC will be sponsoring an Afghan refugee family selected
by Pastor Obed from the ACEM Afghan Church plant. The family is expected to
arrive in Canada in December-January. Volunteers will be needed to help the
family with needs such as transportation, finding housing, etc. (more details
will be available later). If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please
contact pastoral staff of your congregation.
Here are the responsibilities of the
volunteers (working together with a team from Afghan church under NYCCC):
- Welcoming the family when they arrived at the
airport. - Looking for a rental place for them to stay.
- Visiting the families time to time
- Providing transportation when needed
- Finding school for kids and LINC classes for
adults - Finding secondhand furniture and other home
appliances - Helping to find clothes and shoes for the
family - Inviting the family for lunch or dinner once
a while
