ECB News Flash (Dec 9th)

A. The church sanctuary renovations: Thank you to all the brothers and sisters who participated in all the moving, dismantling and cleaning. Because of your efforts, the lobby renovation project was able to be completed smoothly. The only remaining work is to update the cables for the audio-visual system. Thank you again to all the brothers and sisters for your love and dedication to God’s house.

B. By God’s guidance, Pastor Steven Kwok has accepted the offer to become our Cantonese Associate Pastor starting February 1, 2026. Pastor Steven has over ten years of pastoral experience in ministering to fellowships across different age groups, teaching and preaching, developing community programs, and mobilizing the congregation to participate in missions. We welcome Pastor Steven to our big family!

C. Here Christmas Joint Baptism is on Saturday, December 20 at 10:00am in the GSCC Sanctuary. The baptismal candidates:
Cantonese congregation: Olivia Law
Mandarin congregation: Ye Saiqin (Tian), Xie Chunhong, Zhang Xiuli, Hou Yingtong, Xiao Wenjin, Liu Wanfang, Yu Shui, Jiang Haihui, Xing Shichao, Zheng Weiai, Shi Wenbin, Ou Yangzhong.
English congregation: Jacob Dong, Oscar Zhu

D. Here are the special events during Christmas:
Dec 20 – Joint Baptismal Service at Good Shepherd Community Church (10:00am)
Dec 21 – Cantonese Christmas Sunday Service (9:15am), Mandarin Christmas Evangelistic Sunday Service (11:15am)
Dec 24 – English Christmas Eve dinner at 5pm and Candlelight Service at 7pm
Dec 25 – Mandarin Christmas Evangelistic Meeting from 4:00-6:30pm and love feast after
Dec 31 –Year End prayer meeting for Mandarin and Cantonese congregation

E. Youth Winter Camp will be held at Glen Youth Camp from Dec 27–29 (Sat–Mon). Over 30 people registered. Registration is now closed.

F. The church office will be closed on December 25-26, 2025, and January 1,2026.

G. The final days for making offering in the year 2025 will be Wednesday, December 31, 2025, for online offerings and Sunday, Jan 4, 2026, for physical offering. Brothers and sisters are encouraged to make end-of-year offerings to the church as soon as possible so that they can be deposited in the church account in time for the end of the year.

H. The deadline for submitting reimbursement claims under the 2025 church budget will be Sunday, January 18, 2026.

I. There will be a Deacon Installation Service at all three congregations on Jan 5, 2026. Ministry Committee Members will also be installed at their respective congregations on that day.

J. There was a failed attempt of a vehicle break-in on Sunday December 7 at the church parking lot around 12:15-12:30pm. Brothers and sisters are advised not to leave any valuable belongings inside their vehicles. If you witness a vehicle break-in or any suspicious activity, please do not confront the suspect, instead, prioritize your safety by staying hidden and informing a church leader or pastoral staff immediately.
